Background
Policy initiatives such as community strategies, Local Strategic
Partnerships and Best Value place a premium on the ability of local
authorities and their partners to ensure that together they achieve
more than the sum of their parts. But collaborative working is seldom
easy, and better results depend on improved partnership capabilities.
The content of this site is particularly geared to those of you
who are involved in partnerships with strategic roles, though much
is relevant to operational partnerships. Tools on the site may also
be used by facilitators and trainers working with groups of staff/partners.
The materials draw on experience across the spectrum of local government
involvement in partnerships in pursuit of economic, social and environmental
well-being. Time and again similar issues recur in partnerships,
no matter the subject matter, and their means of resolution are
often the same. The greatest benefits will come where partners are
working and learning together.

Cookies
This site utilises cookies, which are small elements of data that a website
can send to your browser, and which may then be stored on your system.
We use cookies so that we can give you a better experience when
you return to our website - this is most noticable to the user
when you return to a previously submitted tool/questionnaire on
this site. On returning to a previously used tool/questionnaire,
if cookies are enabled and have been previously accepted by your
browser software, then your last responses will be already filled
in for you, hopefully saving you time and increasing the usefulness
of the facilities on this site.
Most web browser software is automatically set to accept cookies. You do not
have to accept cookies, and you should read the information that
came with your browser software to see how you can set up your browser
to notify you when you receive a cookie. This will give you the
opportunity to decide whether to accept it. If you do decide to
reject cookies, then certain additional functionality will be lost,
as detailed above.
